D is a “powerjet” model. The tubes feed fuel from extra circuit called the “powerjet“, this is a high-end enrichment device, saves spreading the main-jet fueling from the end of progression to max rpm, you can feed peak rpm fuel in via the powerjet system, which can be tuned with very small jets that screw into the main jet stack. Makes the carbs “tri-jet“: idle/progression-main-powerjet.
